This was the scene out our front door as I left Thursday evening. It was all doom and gloom as the trucks pulled in at 9pm with sandbags, telling us to stack them around our basement windows. This was after the Code Red phone call saying we needed to evacuate and just before our neighbor, a police officer, told us it wasn't a matter of "if", it was a matter of "when." It was at that point I decided to pack up the kids and get out of there! Fortunately, nothing happened. We were an island at 41.5 feet if a dike broke so when they predicted the higher crest we started to plan for the worst.
